About YSMF

Who We Are

Young Strong Mothers Foundation (YSMF) is a grassroots, women-led organization with over 10 years of experience identifying, rescuing, and supporting vulnerable adolescent girls and young women, especially teenage mothers.

We empower most vulnerable adolescent girls and young women especially teenage mothers to overcome barriers to education, prevent child marriage, school dropout and create brighter futures.

The Big Why YSMF?

YSMF was founded because too many girls in rural Tanzania were being denied opportunities to learn, grow, and dream. Poverty, long distances to school, early marriage, teenage pregnancy, and lack of access to basic needs were pushing girls out of school and into cycles of hardship. Teenage mothers, especially, were left without hope or second chances.

From this reality, YSMF was born, out of a mother-and-daughter vision to create a safe and empowering space where girls and young mothers can rewrite their stories. With resilience, determination, and faith, they turned personal struggles into a mission of hope. Jackie Bomboma and her Rose Mayunga founded YSMF to stand as a bridge between most vulnerable girls and women with various opportunities.

Today, YSMF works hand-in-hand with communities, schools, organizations, government bodies, private sectors and local leaders to rescue girls at risk of school dropout, empower teenage mothers with vocational and livelihood skills, and build inclusive communities where no girl is left with no chance to rebuild their lost dream or to work on a new dream.
